I am a teaching musician, a sister, a daughter, and a mom…among many things. I am a Chicagoan with a Music Education degree from the University of Illinois (Champagne), and a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. I love performing in musicals and in plays, and think students should have the opportunity to explore many interests and develop their talents. I love to travel, visit friends, go to museums and concerts, and read fun books with a cup of coffee in the early morning. Mostly, I love to sing….and help others to do the same!
I would love to be able to fly like a bird. From the time I was little, I have been fascinated by the prospect of launching myself from the earth, and soaring over the trees. I think the feeling of liberation would be indescribably beautiful!
I would choose to have dinner with Ludwig van Beethoven. I would hope he would accept my invitation, because I would like to ask him about his life and the inspiration for his music. Did he know that his compositions would still have such an impact on audiences this many years later? Of what is he most proud? And does he have any regrets? Mostly, I would like to say “thank you”.
I would bring my favorite Anna Moffo CD. She was a very special operatic soprano, whose voice thrills me. I would bring YoYo Ma, a superstar cellist, playing Bach, or almost anything. And I would need to include my Beatles collection… “Rubber Soul”, if I can only have one album.
I think I would rather be able to speak all the languages on Earth, because then I might be able to assist in conflict resolution. I would try to do this at Hawthorne, here in Chicago, in our country, and around the world. I would like to contribute to the effort to bring world peace to our planet.
