The Friends We Keep

The memory that I have of Hawthorne isn't a memory from my days there. It actually started happening after I moved on to bigger and better adventures, and even today continues to happen on a regular basis. The memory is the expression on peoples faces when I introduce them to all of the best friends that I still have from grammar school. I never realized while I was at Hawthorne what a tramatic experience the rest of the children in the city had in their early educational years, mainly becuase that was never my experience. I grew up working hard and playing hard with friends I loved back then and still love today. I remain in direct contact with about 15 people I graduated with in 1997, and in loose contact with the rest. We even organized a 10 year class reunion in May of 2007, simply because we wanted to see each other again. So thank you so much Hawthorne, for the memories I have from the past, and all of the continued experiences I will have in the future with the old time friends that I have kept.
